Making Strides Towards Quantifying Equestrian Performance | Episode 43

By Tim Worden & Nicole Lakin of the IGNITE

In this episode, we speak with David Deillon about his passion for data in equestrian sports, which ultimately led him to develop the Alogo MovePro technology. We discuss how data can be used to enhance training effectiveness as well as opportunities to grow viewership by providing audiences with novel insights.

We kick off the episode with David explaining the wearable technology he developed and how riders use this wearable device in daily training and competition (of note – this device is approved for FEI competition). From there, we discuss some of the other applications for technology such as this, including enhancing the viewer experience for crowds at competitions. For example, the Alogo MovePro was placed on the girths of horses jumping at the Dublin Puissance this year (2023) to provide fans with additional insights on the strategies employed by the competitors to clear the wall.

The episode also touches on the types of metrics that are meaningful to riders in different disciplines, the future of wearable devices in sport, and some other insights and lessons learned by David as he continues to refine his technology.
